The Mary E. Geyer STEM Scholarship for Women – American University of Iraq-Sulaimani
Three Tuition Grants of $2,000* each awarded to three students.
Active for the 2017/18 academic year.

  • Rising 3rd and 4th-year female undergraduate students at AUIS.
  • Accumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0.
  • Applications open May 1st, 2017. A completed application must be received by September 15th, 2017

* Please note:  Scholarship amount cannot exceed tuition amount owed for the 17-18 school year.

During the academic year, 2016-17, two $1,500 scholarships were offered to rising third and fourth-year female students at AUIS, Sulaimani, Iraq.

Snur Hamid

Snur Hamid is a senior IT student at the American University of Iraq-Sulaimani, and has been working as a certified Microsoft Sales Specialist at Avesta Group since 2014. Besides working, she has volunteered for local and international organizations to serve the community. She also received the Marry E. Geyer Scholarship for AUIS Women in IT award in 2015 and STEM Scholarship in 2016, and Ericsson ICT Professional Foundation Program Certificate. Snur is currently an ambassador of CIDA, Center for Informatics and Data Analytics at the American University of Iraq-Sulaimani.

Zanwer Hasan

Zanwer zanwer_hasanHasan, a senior student at the American University of Iraq-Sulaimani, is majoring in Construction Engineering  with a minor in Business Management. She is the Vice President of the first founded Engineering Club at AUIS. Zanwer has been working as a mathematics tutor, civilization tutor and as a physics lab assistant. Besides working, she has volunteered in several annual events and was an Intern of the Communications Department at the university. Moreover, Zanwer was promoted from a tour guide to a student ambassador by the administration department to represent the university to visiting high school students.

Bethany Christman

I am Bethany Christman. I am a 2014 graduate of Botkins High School. Currently, I am studying Mechanical Engineering at Wright State Lake Campus and plan to graduate with my Bachelor’s degree in May 2018. Upon graduation, my plans are to further my education at Wright State’s Dayton Campus. I will be going for my Masters in Mechanical Engineering in the design track.

Requirements.

  • Female graduates from Botkins High School
  • Rising 2nd, 3rd, 4th year undergraduate; graduate level programs, Masters and PhD
  • Full time student in good standing at a reputable, four year, university or college.
  • Major or area of emphasis in science, technology, engineering, math (STEM).
  • Completed application, transcript, FAFSA and FAFSA4caster results received before April 1st.
  • Cumulative 3.0/4.0 GPA
  • Applications open February 1st and close April 1st.
